To See To Hear and To Never Leave
Eva has collected and continues to collect obsessions—some she feeds (and feeds from), obsessions she does not want to let go of, ones she actively seeks out and
cares for.

The display, built around the title To See To Hear and To Never Leave, is yet another confirmation, one that delves even deeper into the series of concerns and themes that have accompanied her since the beginning. […]
Eva has collected and continues to collect obsessions—some she feeds (and feeds from), obsessions she does not want to let go of, ones she actively seeks out and
cares for. Whether these obsessions are tied to her personal history and identity, or derived from a lost or belatedly acquired memory, the common thread seems to be the passage of time and the
documentation of her own self. Through a nearly fully embraced monomania, Eva is in constant search of a rhythm and of some sort of peace. From photography to photographic objects, from objet trouvé & vernacular archives to video or performance, the subject remains the same: the self > herself. And Eva embraces this, not hiding it—on the contrary, she reveals herself in multiple forms, or always in the same one.
She reveals herself because she wants to be seen, probably because she loves to watch, to observe in an almost painful way. […]
Michele Bressan From curatorial text
Eva Chapkin is an interdisciplinary artist born in Chișinău, Moldova. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Film and Photography from the National University of Arts in Bucharest and is
currently pursuing a master's degree in Photography and Society at the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague.
Eva's work explores themes of individuality, memory, and the tactile nature of existence, utilizing photography, mixed media, installations, and video art. In her practice she focuses
on the concept of disappearance and the evolution of humans in relation to nature, emphasizing the progression of time, the nature of care, and self-documentation. Through a
performative lens, she examines mundane acts, often transforming them into moving images on a white wall.
Her portfolio includes both local and international exhibitions. Notably, she participated in the local exhibition "Through Limits: A Stretch Through Edges" at Diptych Art Space, which
investigated the tangibility of archives. Additionally, her work was featured in the international exhibition "GoingON" in Bielefeld, Germany, where she addressed the notion of home within
a lost archive, focusing on the defocusing of figures within domestic spaces.
