Un ciclo di conferenze organizzato da Pia Candinas Librarian—Cultural Liaison.
Comunicato stampa
Segnala l'evento
Maurizio Savini
Introduced by Shara Wasserman
Wednesday, March 31, at 3.00 p.m. ROOM 4
Before dedicating himself to sculpture, Maurizio Savini studied
Architecture at Rome’s University “La Sapienza” and worked
as assistent to the painter Gianni Dessì. Savini's solo exhibition
in Düsseldorf in 1992 marked the beginning of his successful
and varied international career. He has shown at the Reiner
Eickoff Galerie, Hamburg (1995), la Galleria Bagnai di Siena
(1999), Palazzo delle Esposizioni di Roma (2000), Volume
(Rome, 2003), Museo Arte Contemporanea di Roma (2003),
Galerie Olivier Houg (Lyons, 2003), Contempo (Rotterdam,
2004), Jorge Shirley (Lisbon, 2005), and in Rome's
Quadriennale (2008), as well as appearing in numerous
international art fairs and biennals. His works are often created
for particular spaces and occasions, and he has collaborated
with the arts organization Zerinthya.
Maurizio Savini also has extensive experience in set design
for theater and opera. Maurizio Savini covers the surfaces of
his sometimes large sculptural works and installations in
chewing gum, a colorful and provocatively vulgar material,
which the artist exploits for its infantile simplicity and
ephemeral, pop connotations.
Maurizio Savini lives and works in Rome.
