Danny Rolph – 23 rd dimension
Mostra personale
Comunicato stampa
Segnala l'evento
Danny Rolph, 20 luglio 2009 - Londra

My recent work has taken on a more direct relationship with Painting's topology or discourse with space.
Through the act of painting on to Twinwall and Triplewall plastic, as well as canvas and paper, I bring my desires and inspirations into view, locating a range of questions and possibilities. These inspirations are both physical (objects, places, people etc.) as well as conceptual flights (music, poetry etc.) and embody, through the paint and collaged elements I put on the surfaces, everything that I am physically, mentally, politically, historically and economically. My paintings being exhibited here possess in their compositions more of a dissonant quality accentuated through marks that have a clearer association with forces such as motion, velocity and acceleration and are at odds with the quasi-architectonic structures that they circumnavigate, disassembling and reconstructing them on the same plane. Fragmentary combinations that appear all over the work build a psychological pleasure that pushes and pulls a viewer across the surface allowing transgressive impulses, similar to what George Bataille wrote about when commenting on Art's foundations and the sheer impossibility of our existence in the world. I desire that my paintings appear through the mists of activity and time containing the potential for joy and despair between each passing second. . Danny Rolph, July 20 th 2009 - London
