Segnala l'evento
“Corso Ricorso III” combines paintings from 1998 to 2009, all with the theme of the brushstroke and its multiple re-turns, echoing my continuing home-coming to Europe. Repetition of the stroke gives the work life and breath, opening the space of painting against the banality of mastery, aiming instead for the truth of my body with the accidents of my own reach and touch.
The paintings in “Corso Ricorso III” speak a basic language of liquid brush strokes repeated to de-stabilize traditional composition creating a time-based viewing experience. They ask the eye to return over and over again through the painting, never settling in one place, like theme and variation in a symphonic chorus.
Repetition opens the space between strokes to equalize paintstroke and space. My multiple brush-holders mechanize the hilarity of chance accidents. The space also allows me to layer use printing, collage, words and anything I find in the studio. These horizontal and internal spaces of painting are the subject.
