Comunicato stampa
Segnala l'evento
I materiali robusti, solidi, vengono sollevati in aria: quelli recuperati e dimenticati diventano forme eteree.

Virginia Overton, on view until October 18th at MoMA PS1 New York, is the artist who starts N.O.Gallery new exhibition season
Virginia Overton repurposes building materials and everyday objects, creating considered relationships that are subject to surrounding conditions--space, gravity, moisture, and pressure. Through minimalist gestures, Overton makes rugged sculptural constructions: a ladder is an abstract object in space that produces composition with shadows and marks made on the walls during installation. The found, forgotten, and overlooked become discreet sculptural forms.
Pallets are squished between walls held in place with shims, large sonotubes hang from trees, and chairs cinched together become lamps. Economy of materials and formal clarity in her work resonate a uniquely spare vernacular aesthetic in perverse and precarious balance.
For the exhibition at N.O. Gallery, Overton makes an installation using lumber, paint and the 3mx4.7mx4m gallery space.
