L’arte a bassa definizione della Royal Art Lodge da Perugi a Padova

La nuova personale Women and Children del gruppo canadese The Royal Art Lodge (Michael Dumontier, Marcel Dzama e Neil Farber) presenta quasi duecento quadri grandi pochi centimetri, dipinti in un linguaggio che ricorda i vecchi fumetti e le vecchie illustrazioni. Nella varietà dei soggetti possiamo rintracciare il tema del divagare sognante e malinconico che gira e rigira, come un mal di testa, intorno ai due differenti tipi umani dichiarati dal titolo. Si tratta di nebulose psichiche quanto mai complesse e fragili, particolarmente sensibili alla violazione, sfuggenti depositarie di un personale segreto. Esse occupano il centro della minuscola scena che le vede protagoniste, attorniate da qualche apparizione impalpabile, sgorgata dal flusso di coscienza assieme a fobie e tristezze.

The new solo show Women and Children by the Canadian group the Royal Art Lodge presents almost two hundred small paintings, each only a few centimetres across. They are painted using a language which brings to mind old comic books and illustrations. In the variety of subjects the theme of dreamy and melancholic wandering emerges in the mind. It continuously recurs, like a bad headache, about two types of human beings – as stated in the title. These are two nebulas of the psyche, as complex and fragile as ever, particularly sensitive to violation, fleeting depositories of a personal secret. They are the lead characters and occupy the centre of the minute scene, accompanied by some immaterial apparition pouring out of the stream of consciousness together with fears and sadness.
